Clayton Samuel King is an Anishinaabe artist from Beausoleil First Nation. He graduated from Fanshawe College in 2010 with a Fine Art advanced diploma. Since returning to his artistic talent in 2007, Clayton has been accredited nationally, provincially and locally with five awards and scholarships during his three years at Fanshawe and since the spring of 2008, this Eagle Clan member has exhibited his art in 6 group shows and one solo show in the London, Ontario area and his first selected juried art group exhibition in Midland, Ontario in the spring of 2011. The sublime of nature and the history of First Nations people around the Great Lakes basin is what motivates’ his creativity as a working contemporary professional. Since graduating in April of 2010 this emerging artist works with various mediums and material. The majority used of these mediums is acrylic paint and graphite. Several of Clayton’s paintings, drawings and sculptures are in the collections of Fanshawe College, Bell Canada in North Bay, and the several private collectors all across Turtle Island. Whether it is Native traditional teachings or current social issues of the day, Clayton’s work concentrates on his perspective of life as an Indigenous person living in Canada in the 21st century.
