Billie Jo Tabobondung is a multi - disciplinary artist and performer with over ten years experience. She is a graduate from OCAD (Ontario College of Art and Design) with a Bachelor of Fine Art Degree, and a Major in Integrated Media. She was awarded the Norman and Margaret Jewison Charitable Foundation Scholarship for Proficiency in Integrated Media, and the Charles Street Video Prize, for proficiency in Audio.Her visual art has garnered international attention, and continues to be viewed in exhibitions on display in the personal collections by art aficionados and dignitaries. As a performer she spends her time working with spoken word and audio theatre. Her work has been heard on CBC, Aboriginal Voices Radio, Renegade Radio 88.1 FM in Toronto, and regional stations across the Country. She has toured Ontario and continues to grace the stage sharing her powerful message of empowerment. But Billie Jo’s message goes far beyond the stage. As a workshop facilitator she leads youth through intensive modules where they are free to express themselves and find their own individual voice. And as an event coordinator, she has organized various events and festivals in honor and celebration of Indigenous artistic expressions.She is an artist, performer, collaborator and facilitator. Her words resonate with audiences of all ages and backgrounds and her unique approach to her work has carved a permanent place for her in the Canadian performing arts scene.
