Voice Intensive Workshop and Dance Residency

Building on the exciting success of last year's programs, Aboriginal Arts at The Banff Centre presents two innovative programs this coming summer - Diverse As This Land and the Indigenous Dance Residency.

Diverse As This Land - Voice Intensive Workshop

Program dates: July 12 - 17, 2010

Application deadline: March 19, 2010

Add your voice to the Diverse As This Land project, a week-long vocal intensive at TheBanff Centre that explores singing as physical experience, breath control and capacity, resonance, understanding of the vocal apparatus, care of the voice, and relationship to space and audience under the mentorship of two highly accomplished teachers, mentors, and singers. Singers in the program will have the unique opportunity to experience first-hand the power of live performanceby singing as a group during the concert series.

 

Indigenous Dance Residency

Program dates: August 2 - 23, 2010

Application deadline: April 9, 2010

Experience a rare dance residency that brings together contemporary Indigenous dancers to participate in a high quality artistic process, with exceptional Indigenous choreographers, teachers, and mentors from various nations, backgrounds, and countries. Led by one of New Zealand's most cutting-edge choreographers, Neil Ieremia, this intensive residency will probe, refine, and deepen the artistic process and strengthen the existing dance vocabulary of Indigenous dancers.

  • The 7th Annual CIT Variety Showcase will be at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, ., on December 10, 2010,
    with performances scheduled to start at 7 pm and run through to
    9:30pm.  The evening is by donation and all are invited to attend.
